AfCEN PFS Studio

From raw idea to a defensible go or no-go.

An evidence-first engine that builds desktop pre-feasibility studies for corridor projects, with every figure traceable and every decision left to an accountable person.

What PFS Studio is

A pre-feasibility study decides whether a corridor project deserves the time and money of full feasibility. AfCEN PFS Studio builds that study from evidence, keeps every figure traceable to its source, and leaves every decision with an accountable person.

Promising projects often stall for the same reasons: studies that cannot be traced to evidence, numbers nobody can reproduce, and decisions taken before the gaps are known. PFS Studio automates the work machines do well, such as reading, extracting, modelling and assembling, and keeps every judgement with people.

The result is a desktop pre-feasibility study, reviewed and frozen, with an explicit list of data gaps and a recommendation on the next preparation step. It is not a bankable feasibility study, engineering design, legal opinion, permit or investment recommendation.

How it works

From first visit to results.

  1. Upload what you have

The engine reads your documents and screens the project across twelve areas.

  2. Screening decision

The project lead records Go, Revise, Hold or Reject with a rationale.

  3. Build the evidence

Evidence is graded A to E and every item records its source, down to the page, table or cell.

  4. Model and appraise

Cost, financial and economic figures come from deterministic, governed model runs.

  5. Recommend, review and publish

A recommendation of Go, Conditional Go, Hold or No Go, independent review by discipline, then a frozen, checksummed study.

What you can do with it

Twelve screening areas

Technical, market demand, land, implementation complexity, environmental, social, economic, financial, funding, institutional, legal and regulatory, and strategic relevance.

Gates G0 to G8

From initiation and scope to independent review and publication. Gate history is append-only and agents can never decide a gate.

Evidence grades

From A (authoritative) to E (unverified). Extraction confidence is not treated as evidence quality.

Deterministic models

Cost ranges, NPV, FIRR, DSCR, EIRR and sensitivities, each run recording its inputs so any figure can be reproduced.

Registers

Assumptions, options, risks and gaps as structured records. A do-nothing option is always included.

Sector and country packs

No universal model. A rail terminal and a power line are appraised with their own modules, rules and reviews.

Who it’s for

Project sponsors and developers

A concept note turned into a structured, reviewable study, and early warning of the gaps that will stop financiers.

Governments and corridor authorities

A consistent way to screen a pipeline and prioritise with the same evidence standard for every project.

Development finance and investors

Studies where every number traces to a source, a model run or a labelled assumption.

Technical reviewers and consultants

Exact revisions to review, findings raised against them and sign-off by discipline with a full audit trail.

Questions people ask

Is a study from PFS Studio bankable?

No. A desktop PFS is not a bankable feasibility study, engineering design, legal opinion, land-title confirmation, permit approval or investment recommendation. It decides whether the next preparation stage is justified.

Does AI write my study?

Agents draft, research and run models, but every change is a proposal that a person accepts. Evidence verification, review, gate decisions and publication are for people only.

Can an AI calculate the NPV?

No. Investment figures come from deterministic, governed model runs with full lineage. Language models may explain results, never compute them.

Who can see my studies?

Each account works in its own workspace. Every action is permission-checked and audited, and administrators manage access.

What was the first pilot?

A multi-modal terminal and railway shunting yard on the Nacala Corridor.
